I’m Abigail, a psychoanalytically informed, psychodynamic counsellor. If you’ve found this page it’s likely you’re thinking about seeking some support for yourself, your child or your family – if you have questions about the type of presenting difficulties I often work with, please check the Experience tab above.
I mainly work with children, young people and families – however I also undertake parent, parent-infant and individual adult work too. I offer both short and long term work, in a safe non-judgemental environment.
What is psychodynamic counselling?
Psychodynamic or psychoanalytically informed counselling involves exploring thoughts, feelings, beliefs and earlier life experiences in order to see how these have impacted on the present moment, and current relationships. Psychodynamic therapists believe that behaviour is influenced by unconscious processes; the improvement of self awareness coupled with a working through of difficult feelings will help negative patterns start to resolve and positive changes will start to be made.
Please check the Counselling tab for more detailed information about how I work with different client groups.
Location and accessibility
My therapy room is a five minute walk from Meols Cop station in the PR8 area of Southport; it is readily accessible from Southport, Churchtown, Banks, Birkdale, Ainsdale, Hightown, Formby, Crosby and even Liverpool or Preston.
The room itself is not wheelchair accessible, however I am happy to offer home visits to mobility restricted clients and clients who may struggle to travel to my room.
